Free Credit Score Check: What You Need to Know

In recent times, almost all payment apps come equipped with a feature to check your free credit score. This tempting offering allows users to access their credit report within the app, which then gets stored in the app's database. However, what many users may not realise is that this credit report becomes valuable data for the app's analytics engine.

Consequently, the app might utilise this information to promote and sell their loan products and postpaid or paylater kind of services. Unfortunately, the outcome of this can often result in users being bombarded with a plethora of notifications, emails, and even phone calls, all offering various loans.

In light of this, it is essential for users to be cautious when presented with the option to check free credit score. While the convenience of accessing this information through payment apps is undeniable, it is wise to exercise this option judiciously.

A safer and more prudent approach would be to verify your credit scores through your Internet Banking portals or dedicated Apps. By doing so, you can retain better control over who has access to your sensitive credit information and reduce the likelihood of receiving unsolicited loan offers and marketing communications.
