The loss of Nokia!

Nokia's market started dwindling the moment it ignored the change in consumer preferences. It is sheer arrogance of Nokia that made the company go into the losses. Many people used to have multiple mobiles for their businesses. Seeing the opportunity many China mobiles started producing dual-SIM mobiles. It was the time; many Indian mobile companies like Micromax, Karbonn etc have evolved into good brands using the opportunity. Many consumers used to enquire about the dual-SIM Nokia mobiles. All they want is the brand like Nokia with the features provided by the China mobiles. Nokia ignored this trend and continued to produce the single-SIM mobiles. Samsung also utilised the opportunity and produced many models with dual-SIM feature and captured the market. By the time Nokia realised and started producing dual-SIM mobiles, it was too late.

The other important trend Nokia ignored is 'Android'. How did Nokia ignore Android is a million-dollar question. Any sane person who thinks good for the business would deliver what customer wants and not dictate to the customers. Nokia did the second thing. Many consumers who are loyal to the brand Nokia but want to use Smartphone with Android dumped their loyalty. Even now, we can find people asking for Nokia-Android mobiles in the retail outlets. Again, Samsung used the opportunity and seized the market leader position. Nokia on the other hand married Microsoft's failed Windows Mobile OS. When Samsung could release the mobiles with both Windows Mobile and Android OS, what stopped Nokia from adapting Android? Arrogance? Or a 'great' business strategy?

Nokia would have come into profits if it would have adapted Android and that step would have avoided the selling of business to another loser called Microsoft.
