The hot topic of discussion in Telugu Nadu (the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana) is not about Swine Flu or the Farmers suicides or the cash-crunch Andhra. The hot topic of discussion is Vasthu. And the reason why the topic was spurt upon is the decision of Telangana government to move the State Secretariat to Erragadda. CM KCR himself said that the existing Secretariat has Horrible Vasthu non-compliance. Well, let’s not discuss on the financial implications of the decision as that is already widely discussed.
By declaring about ‘Horrible Vasthu’, CM KCR has given much needed support to Vasthu preachers. As said in the movie OMG, these Vasthu preachers are similar to terrorists. They terrorise you saying that something very bad is going to happen. Now, CM KCR also got ‘terrified’ with the ‘Horrible Vasthu’ of Secretariat. Believing Vasthu or not is a personal decision. No one questions that. But State Secretariat is a public property and the government is just a guardian of the public property – not the owner of it. State Secretariat is not KCR’s personal property. If there is a valid reason for moving Secretariat, the reason should be put forward for discussion in Assembly and a consensual decision has to be taken. Just taking decisions with Vasthu in mind only attracts sarcasm from general public.
